A technology roadmap is a high level overview of future planning for the use of technology; it is often used to plan and manage new information technology (IT) infrastructure.
It is a strategic plan for future changes to an organization’s technology environment and is used to decide how to implement and introduce new technology into their current environment. This could include the adoption of new hardware and standards, the implantation of new software or other changes technology used in the course of conducting business. It helps organizations to identify the impacts of changes to business operations as well as promoting the goals and benefits of the change. A roadmap allows for planning in advance of any changes to ensure that normal functions are disrupted as little as possible as well as providing a strategic plan to achieve specific business benefits.
