Male life drawing refers to creating representations of the male human body by an artist using any of the range of drawing media; it often refers to the fact of producing a drawing of a male nude figure. How the body is represented can range from detailed, anatomically correct renderings to abstract and expressive forms. In all cases, however, a life drawing is made after observing a live model. The work produced can be a finished work in its own right or a study that is created for use in another work, such as a painting.
Figure drawing is a fundamental artistic practice and is regarded as one of the most difficult subjects for an artist to capture effectively. The human form has been an enduring subject in the visual arts and drawing from life is regarded as the best way to capture the human body in dynamic form.
