What is a PADI IDC Course?

Are you interested in exploring the underwater world and becoming an expert scuba diver? The Professional Association of Diving Instructors PADI offers an IDC course to help you reach your goal.

The IDC stands for Instructor Development Course and it is designed to give people the skills needed to become qualified scuba diving instructors. During the course, participants will learn about dive theory, technology, risk management and teaching techniques for a variety of diving specialties.

Participants must be certified as Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver or higher in order to enroll on the PADI IDC course. This ensures that they have sufficient knowledge and experience before embarking upon instructor training.

The PADI IDC course consists of two parts – the Assistant Instructor AI program and Open Water Scuba Instructor OWSI program. During these programs, participants will receive lectures on topics such as dive theory, physiology and physics, risk management & customer service as well as learning how to plan dives effectively. They will also practice how to teach students through mock lessons in confined water sessions before progressing onto open water teaching scenarios with real students.
