Honduras Coffee Bean Characteristics

Honduras coffee beans do not have the reputation and name recognition of the beans produced in neighboring South American countries such as Costa Rica and El Salvador but this is slowly changing as people become more familiar with the country’s coffee bean brand.

Honduran coffee plants are mainly cultivars of the Arabica species. The beans are usually wet processed and have been used in the past, mainly for blending with other coffee bean varieties. It is increasingly being prized as a single origin coffee bean as well with. When lightly roasted it offers a smoothly textured, sweet coffee that includes fruity notes (tamarind and lemon) as well as nutty flavors (almond and coconut) with chocolate undertones. The coffee beans from Honduras are typically grown at high altitudes and result in a coffee that is high in flavor but that offers a delicate finish.
