The Ugly Side of Greeting Cards

Greeting cards can be a thoughtful way to reach out to a friend or loved one during a special occasion. Yet, unfortunately, hateful greeting cards exist. These appalling cards are filled with malicious messages and curses, designed to make the receiver feel terrible.

It’s hard to believe that people actually buy and send these cards, but it’s true. These cards are often marketed as a joke, but they go too far and can cross lines of decency. Hateful greeting cards can contain insulting remarks about the recipient’s appearance, intelligence, or in some cases, their race, gender, or sexuality.

These cards can do more than just ruin someone’s day; they can cause real emotional pain and damage to a person’s self-esteem. The sender may think it’s funny, but it’s not a joke to those who receive it. It’s harassment, plain and simple.

The solution to this problem rests with consumers. If we stop buying these types of cards, producers will stop making them. We need to support greeting card companies that offer positive messages and steer clear of those that promote hate.

Let’s stand together against harmful speech and choose kindness in all our communications, whether through greeting cards or other means. We can make a difference by spreading love, not hate.
