As the demand continues to grow for beauty products that are friendly to animals and the environment, cruelty-free and vegan friendly makeup brands are quickly gaining ground. However, there is often confusion about whether or not the two are the same thing? If not, how are they different?
In a nutshell, “cruelty free” means that products are not tested on any animals at all. That does not mean, however, that they do not contain animal-derived ingredients. Some do. “Vegan friendly” means makeup is not made from and does not contain animal-based ingredients but some may have been tested on animals.
Be careful when reading labels on makeup brands. If you are looking for a makeup brand that does not use animal ingredients and does not test the end product on them, go for brands that are both cruelty-free and vegan friendly.
