While many parents feel like they’re “home free” once their baby starts sleeping through the night this isn’t necessarily so since there are a lot of children who experience a 2 Year Old Sleep Regression. Although this is frustrating for parents who are now enjoying getting a full night of sleep, it’s both developmentally normal and actually quite common.
Typically sleep regression at this age will last anywhere from two to six weeks. However, it’s really important that you don’t introduce your toddler to new habits (e.g. laying with your toddler as they fall asleep, letting your toddler crawl into bed with you) at this time. Instead, you need to maintain a consistent bedtime routine that shows your child that you love them but you’re still in control. You should also continue having your child nap until they’re between 3 — 5 years old.
