The Riviera Maya Mexico is one of the country’s most popular vacation areas. Each year millions of tourists visit this stretch of coastline along the Caribbean Sea to enjoy the beaches, water sports and variety of activities available. The area is home to some of Mexico’s most well known resorts, including Puerto Morelos and Playa del Carmen. It’s also become known for its many all inclusive resorts that include meals and activities in their rates, as well as a range of restaurants and plenty of smaller boutique style hotels. Located off the coast is the island of Cozumel, also a major tourist destination and home to a busy international airport. The second largest barrier reef in the world attracts divers from all over the world, while inland the region is home to several spectacular archaeological sites, including the pre-Columbian city of Chichen Itza.
