Ever since I first discovered that little girls in Australia were being subjected to female genital mutilation I have been working hard to stop this abuse. I am now working full-time campaigning to stop female genital mutilation to girls in Australia.
But there is so much work to do, and this costs money.
I am now appealing for your help.
Although I am in the process of creating a legal entity which will allow for tax deductible donations, in the meantime I am self-funding the work so that we can get the message out there to protect little girls.
This fundraiser is set up to help pay for the first ever conference aimed at increasing the awareness of child protection issues around FGM and the laws in Australia. The conference will be in Melbourne on the 17th September, 2015.
The speakers will include:
Human Rights Lawyer, Felicity Gerry QC,
Child Protection Advocate, Professor Freda Briggs, and Survivor of FGM, Khadija Gbla.
I need help to cover the costs of the conference, especially the cost of travel and accommodation for the speakers, as well as venue and food and other expenses.
I want the conference to be free or minimal cost to participants in order to attract as many people as possible to hear from our speakers about why and how they can better protect little girls from the brutality of female genital mutilation.
I am putting the call out to anyone who would like to help this campaign to protect girls from female genital mutilation.
I can’t do it alone, and your donation will help significantly.
